The Northern Ireland Executive team has just been changed - see below for the latest:

  1. Sammy Wilson MP MLA to Department of the Environment (Responsible for planning!)
  2. Arlene Foster MLA (formerly of Department of the Environment) to Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment
  3. Nigel Dodds MP (formerly of Enterprise, Trade and Investment) to Department of Finance and Personnel
  4. Edwin Poots MLA out of DCAL replaced by Gregory Campbell MLA
  5. Jeffery Donaldson MP MLA stays as junior Minister at the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM)

Ruth Kelly has made a statement in the House of Commons to announce the introduction of a new congestion charge for Greater Manchester.  The scheme will be funded from the Transport Innovation Fund.  Improved public transport links have been promised before the scheme comes online in 2013.

 The scheme is expected to reduce congestion in Greater Manchester by 20% .

Hazel Blears has announced a doubling of the Planning Aid fund today.  The money is provided to community groups to give them more of a voice in the planning process.

Funding will increase from £1.7m to £3.2m this year.
